Jacksonville Onslow Leadership Class 2015

The Jacksonville Onslow Leadership Class is designed to create a corps of informed and dedicated emerging community leaders qualified to lead Jacksonville and Onslow County throughout the 21st Century. The program runs once a year for 10 months and is compiled of approximately 20 participants. These participants will be informed, challenged, and otherwise educated on the opportunities and needs of the community as well as the dynamics of social and economic changes. Education is provided for the skills necessary for volunteer community leadership positions, which will encourage the development of interpersonal relationships among the participants, providing a common ground for working togther on community projects. The program will further identify organizational and individual opportunities for community involvement and will encourage continued participation in these activities.

The Jacksonville Onslow Leadership Class of 2015 has named the Onslow Women's Center as their beneficiary of their Class Project. Please click here to donate to our Social Media Campaign to benefit the Onslow Women's Center Safe House and for more information regarding the project.

Another fundraiser that the Leadership Class is doing is Dining for a Difference, which is where local restaurants are being asked to host fundraising events that support the Onslow Women's Center. At these events, a portion of the proceeds will be put towards the completion of the Leadership Class' Community Project. The Safe House at the Onslow Women's Center is in tremendous need of renovation to the kitchen and dining areas. Residents of the shelter prepare meals for one another in the kitchen and then share the meals together in the dining area as a family. The floors are in disrepair, functional use needs improvement, and the most important element is that adequate dining and seating for the residents is needed.
